Swiss Life Asset Managers’ central ESG team located in our main office in Zurich (“divisional ESG team”) is responsible for ESG integration within all asset classes and functions at SL AM. The divisional ESG team Real Assets, together with a strong team of decentral local ESG Managers within the business units located in Switzerland, France, Germany, UK, Norway, and Luxembourg (the “global ESG team Real Assets”), consults and develops overarching ESG strategies and implementation instruments for our Real Estate and Infrastructure business units and functions and facilitates and oversees their implementation. To strengthen our divisional ESG team Real Assets, we are looking for an ESG Manager Real Assets with a functional focus on data management and quantitative reporting and processes as of now or upon agreement.
In this position, next to contributing to quantitative reports on divisional level, you would primarily lead (or support) our efforts around the (further) development of strategies, concepts, and instruments/tools for harmonized and automized ESG management and reporting processes, while being part of a dynamic and international team of highly experienced and engaged ESG experts. Areas with a leading function and areas with a supporting function may be finally defined depending on your specific experience, strengths and preferences of the and their correspondence with competencies of existing team members. Your main asset class focus would be on Real Estate, with a possibility to also cover Infrastructure related topics.
Responsibilities
Contribute (lead, quality control or support) different semi-automised quantitative ESG reporting and benchmarking processes on divisional level (e.g., SFDR PAI, carbon reporting along CRREM, TCFD, EU Taxonomy and CSRD, climate risk reporting, overarching GRESB coordination and support)
Support (or lead) analysis of evolving ESG data / reporting / performance requirements based on evolving regulatory standards (e.g., SFDR, CSRD, EU Taxonomy), industry standards (e.g., CRREM, SRI, UN PRI, GRESB) and internal requirements (e.g., internal Real Estate Decarbonisation Dashboard) and lead (or support) the definition and implementation of implications on our strategies, KPIs, processes and tools
In close collaboration with our internal expert teams on real estate data management systems, drive the user-sided (further) development of our ESG data management system for harmonized and automized ESG reporting and effective ESG performance management by drafting, contributing to or reviewing related fundamental concepts such as organisational models, roles and responsibilities, processes, and functionalities, as well as data models, calculation methodologies, tool landscapes, data flows, data validation and governance schemes.
Drive measures to increase data quality and improve efficient traceability (auditability)
Support the introduction & training, maintenance, and further development of the above mentioned (Change Management)
Lead additional projects, initiatives and tasks around ESG strategy development and implementation, coordination and internal/external communication, based on current demands within the team and personal capabilities
Experience
Master’s degree in economics, real estate management, engineering, data science, environmental science, sustainability management or equivalent education
5y+ professional experience in real estate management, asset management, consulting, or a comparable field
Professional experience or profound (further) education in ESG/sustainability/carbon management and real estate management; ideally in a combined sustainable real estate field

English (business fluent), German and other languages are a plus
All knowledge on regulatory frameworks and technical/industry standards around sustainable real estate is a plus, e.g., European SFDR, CSRD, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, CRREM or general carbon accounting, GRESB, eventually also national standards like CH AMAS/KGAST and the currently evolving CH (self) regulation for sustainable investments, FR Label ISR, UK SDR. (However, it is clearly NOT expected by any applicant to be familiar with all mentioned standards.)
