- Within the UPS Service Centre of Competence, you will be responsible for actively sustaining ABB customers and service organization by envisioning and delivering Software solutions to streamline field and support activities.
- Independently contribute to the service Software development lifecycle, from requirement definition to operational release, including testing and validation as well as subsequent maintenance and operation.
- Test and troubleshoot software in diverse environments like simulators, laboratories, and on-target products.
- Keep up to date with technologies, tools, and methods, and implement initiatives to improve operations and customer satisfaction.
- Deliver user-friendly software by improving and adapting through continuous solutions delivery with active feedback from customers and stakeholders.
- Define and implement diagnostic and monitoring algorithms/rules to permit better field issue analysis. Creatively identify specific solutions to improve field activities and their outcome.
- Participate in working teams and offer assistance to co-workers, team members, and colleagues. Provide technical support to your peers, and remote support for the resolution of field issues, eventually traveling to specific sites and locations if required.
- Adhere to applicable processes, standards, and guidelines, and support the achievement of assigned targets (quality, time) as well as addressing risks. Particularly, ensure that Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices are of high standard, and working to eliminate unsafe practices and incidents.
- Migration towards WPF applications on C# with the ability to influence the platform of choice, driving the application development.
- Degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or electrical engineering or equivalent qualification/experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in professional software development, with evidence of a well-structured approach to creating high-quality software and documentation.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, manage multiple tasks, self-starter and independent.
- Ability to work effectively in close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- The position requires creativity, a collaborative and solution-focused approach, and communication skills.
- Experience with mainstream programming languages, combined with the ability to learn and adapt to other development platforms, as the current Software base encompasses multiple technologies.
- Knowledge of connectivity, communication protocols, and field bus (e.g., Modbus, CAN, etc.).
- Earlier experience in Energy Management, Power Quality, and Power Conversion would be desirable, experience with UPS would be a plus.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, Italian is a plus.
