We are currently looking for an Area Sales Manager (m/f/d) for the region Western Switzerland, who will join our international team and who will generate sustainable and predictable revenue growth of our Nordson EFD business in the region. Using our product portfolio you will serve specific customer need and also create the need based on Nordson extensive application knowledge in the given area.

As Area Sales Manager (m/f/d) you will develop the detailed territory map in Western Switzerland, assess customer needs and proactively promote the Nordson EFD brand name. You will suggest appropriate products and services and respond to more complex customer application enquiries. Working closely with the System Manager for the region, you will prepare system application offers and quotes, record, maintain data and trace them properly in C4C CRM.

Frequent travel will be required in the region Western Switzerland with occasional travel to other countries within Europe. We are looking for a new team member, who is located preferably in the Bern or Biel/Bienne area and can fluently communicate in French, German and English.


Further responsibilities are:

  • Solution-based selling capabilities, from developing customer need to project follow-up and delivery;
  • Negotiate prices and delivery times within limits of authority and conclude sales orders to meet revenue targets;
  • Maintain customer relationship throughout the life of the project(s) to ensure timely delivery, on budget and on specification;
  • Identify, research and contact prospective customers and build positive relationships that will generate future sales and repeat business;
  • Promote very actively Nordson EFD brand name, complete product portfolio and application solutions on the given Area in order to achieve yearly active customer basis growth with additional revenue growth in cooperation with Marketing Department of Nordson EFD;
  • Report sales leads, customer feedback and information on competitor activity to appropriate contacts within the organization;
  • Participate and visit Trade shows in behalf of the company, support all Marketing activities, organize and manage local customer events, presentations and roadshows;
  • Independently set-up and perform tests with our products and the customers medium and substrate in our Swiss laboratory.

Education and experience

  • Engineering degree (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Automotive, Material Science or Engineering, General Technical Education) with practical apprenticeship in the machinery industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent field sales experience in a business to business, preferably capital sales equipment with proven track record of owning the sales of a large customer list (at least 100 customers) and developing and growing those accounts and those accounts sales.
  • Experience in the watch, precision mechanics, automation or medical device industries highly beneficial.

Your profile

  • Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills and ability to work with people at all organizational levels.
  • Fluent language skills in French, German and English.
  • Good analytical skills, able to deal with technical queries and applications.
  • Strategic thinking and skills to set & perform long-term actions.
  • No "9 to 5"-mentality and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to set and follow priorities, managing work independently oriented on results.
  • Flexible in working actions and time management.
  • Winning customer trust through being able to confidently and knowledgably present our products and discuss applications.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, SAP, Business Explorer, BW and C4C beneficial.
  • Team player approach and behavior.
  • Preferably based in the area Bern or Biel/Bienne.
