Controlling an Accounting Officer

Controlling an Accounting Officer

The role is based in Balzers, Liechtenstein (three days per week) and in Zürich, Switzerland (two days per week).

This position is a combined function of controller and risk manager (50%) and accountant (50%).

We are seeking a flexible, hands-on team member with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Goal-orientation, high focus on detail and quality are important attributes, together with strong analytical and conceptual skills. Your ability to work autonomously as well as part of a small, global team is key to your success in this role.


Controlling / Risk tasks (50%):

  • Preparing risk/controlling reports for Monterosa sponsored funds;
  • Responsibility for all daily reconciliation and data controlling activities of all funds/investment vehicles;
  • Identify, monitor, assess all financial risks affecting the group on a daily basis and plan/implement necessary control actions;
  • Work closely with management and the advisory desk in advising them on any issues relating to financial risks inherent to specific transactions;


Accounting tasks (50%):

  • Handling group-wide cash management tasks;
  • Daily accounting of several group companies and a few offshore special purpose vehicles/companies;
  • Periodical closings (month, quarter, year) of various group companies, including end-of-period reconciliation and provisions;
  • Support in the process of preparing (consolidated) financial statements and other financial reports;
  • Supporting in the group-wide budgeting and cost control process; with ad-hoc reporting;  



  • Bachelor (or similar) in business administration or finance/controlling;
  • 3-5 years of working exposure in the financial industry;
  • Ability to handle and structure accounting related projects and processes efficiently;
  • Pragmatic but with a high level of attention to detail and an eye for computational details with a high level of accuracy;
  • Preferably asset management or treasury background with exposure to investment funds and/or direct involvement in business transactions/operations;
  • Proven skills and working knowledge about the concepts and practices of controlling/accounting, risk management and financial products;
  • Entrepreneurship, being flexible and able to work within a very dynamic and challenging environment;
  • Persistent and willing to master given responsibilities, high level of patience to delve into deeper levels of analysis;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle confidential matters;
  • Fluent in English and German (verbal and written);
  • Valid permit to work in Switzerland.
