In Roches Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world's toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.
This position is located in Lead Discovery, a department within Small Molecule Research which is part of the Therapeutic Modalities function, where the discovery of chemical starting points for further optimization in medicinal chemistry is a primary focus.
Our research laboratories are continuously expanding in the daily use of lab automation. We are offering an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Principal Associate/ Scientist with a background in cellular and/or biochemical assay development or high throughput screening, a lot of curiosity and affinity for lab automation to contribute to our mission in finding new starting points for drug discovery with the help of novel automation and data orchestration.
With science at your heart and strong skills in data analysis, interpretation, and communication, you plan and execute (automated) experiments in early drug discovery from assay development to high throughput screening in established software scheduling environments (e.g. Cellario, GreenButtonGo and others).
In a continuous learning mindset, you bring experience with the optimization of scientific experimentation translated into automated laboratory workflows to increase efficiency and throughput. Additionally, you are interested in providing guidance and troubleshooting help to your colleagues.
As part of multidisciplinary teams, you work closely with internal/external software development teams to ensure the optimization of automation systems and the seamless integration into lead discovery workflows.
As a change agent, you are a driver for our scientific community to develop future automation solutions focusing on user acceptance. You bring automated workflows to the next level by clear communication, written documentation and SOPs, and by training colleagues with different backgrounds on the development, maintenance, troubleshooting of hardware and software systems.
We are looking for an experienced Principal Associate/ Scientist with 5+ years in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry or equivalent experience in High Throughput Screening or other automated research lab infrastructures. You thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment which gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development. You are resourceful and flexible in problem solving and in working in a collaborative and inclusive manner. You have strong oral and written communication skills and are proficient in preparing and running effective meetings.
