Job Details

Job Title: Senior Global Category Manager for Direct Procurement

Location: Switzerland (Baar/Glattbrugg)

Reporting to: Head of Direct Procurement

Job Responsibilities

- Drive and implement category strategy or renew strategic category management plans (in own, larger categories)
- Lead RFIs/RFPs/RFQs, negotiate contracts
- Identify key stakeholders; collaborate, advise and influence in a matrix organization
- Carry out category spend and market analysis required for category profiling
- Lead Category Councils worldwide (deputy category managers & lead buyers)
- Maintain market and product knowledge; observe market trends
- Analyze and categorize supplier base
- Own Swissport agreed vendor list for the managed categories
- Develop and execute an optimal sourcing strategy for the managed categories
- Lead contractual discussions with suppliers within portfolio of managed categories
- Responsible for the spend cube accuracy for managed categories
- Effectively build and manage relationships with suppliers, using Total Cost of Ownership approach
- Set-up KPIs and monitor service levels to ensure compliance and uninterrupted availability
- Report KPIs and activities in the managed categories / councils
- Work closely with business stakeholders to build consensus and alignment for sourcing and procurement projects,
advise and influence in a matrix organization
- Manage costs (should-cost models, cost reductions, value creation, etc.) and drive savings
- Set rules of engagement with divisions/country organizations (incl. subsequent control of compliance) with respect
to scope of managed categories
- Support and assist global category managers and procurement analysts / intern

Qualifications and Competencies

- Bachelor or Master Degree in Procurement, Business, Economics, Supply Chain or equivalent
- Min. 5-7 years of experience with relevant large procurement categories
- Proven track record in delivering year to year cost savings and driving cost reduction and change projects
- Excellent negotiating skills and understanding of contractual key terms
- Strong process and project management experience
- Great analytical skills
- Strong leadership skills to effectively manage category processes, and cross functional teams in matrix
- Demonstrated ability to work with key stakeholders in multiple global locations and at various levels
- Down-to-earth and positive work attitude, hands-on mentality, team worker
- Excellent social & communication skills able to clearly articulate position in a complex organization
- English skills at business level (written and spoken) is a must, any additional language is an advantage
