We are currently seeking a Seed Treatment & Quality Assessment Specialist to join the Seedcare Institute (SCI) in Stein, Switzerland. In this role you will join the seed treatment industry's leading technical customer service organization in supporting safe and effective use of our best-in-class products and enabling customers to produce the highest quality seed.

The Seed Treatment & Quality Assessment Specialist provides expert technical support for chemical analysis of treated seed within the Seedcare Institute and at customer sites.
Provide consultancy and training and manage a central collection of protocols to ensure a consistent service level across the global SCI network.
Responsible for maintaining and improving end-to-end methods for sampling, calibration of analytical equipment, extraction of AI, quantification, analysis and reporting for all SCI recipes in all crops.
Act as the technical expert in chemical analytical techniques for the Seedcare Institute for all steps in the AI loading and AI in dust measurement process.
Create and maintain a central library of methods for seed AI loading analysis.
Maintain close contact with the global SCI network to ensure the teams are using best practise, produce consistent quality assays and that their problems and future needs are visible.
Work outside functional boundaries to build and maintain a network within the Syngenta analytical professional community.
Engage with the SCI Stewardship lead to understand the future needs of the Seedcare business and customers with regards to emerging regulation of treated seeds.
Look for opportunities to innovate and improve the quality or efficiency of the SCI analytical services, which may include recommendations for outsourcing. Also maintain awareness of technology change in the field of chemical analysis.
Deliver training and explain technical concepts in a clear and engaging way to visitors and internal colleagues.
Master's degree or PhD in chemistry or biochemistry, preferably with a focus on analytical chemistry
Some knowledge of agronomy, agriculture and seed treatment would be an advantage but can be learnt in-role.
Three or more years as an analytical chemist or in a role requiring independent use of HPLC. This could be as part of PhD studies.
One or more years working independently on technical projects in cross-functional, international teams.
Expertise in HPLC, including method development, calibration and use of different detectors.
Can demonstrate safe and accurate handling of chemicals in a lab environment
Statistical experimental design and data analysis
Able to explain complex topics to a non-expert audience in a clear and engaging way
Focused on the customer outcome and able to understand what is required
