Overview of Role
Within that role the successful candidate will deliver tax support to all relevant businesses managed out of Switzerland such as Wealth and Asset Management & Global Advisory and act as the key contact for Swiss tax issues with focus on the Taxation of the Banking Business including Product Development. In this role, the candidate will apply her/his knowledge in all fields of taxation for Rothschild & Co Bank. We are seeking someone who is both – very much hands on and able to provide tax advice regarding the latest legal developments. The successful candidate also assumes the role of a QI Officer.
Responsibilities
- Full Ownership of Swiss and International Tax Matters: Oversee and manage all direct and indirect corporate tax processes in Switzerland, as well as international tax matters for global locations, collaborating with external parties such as law firms and advisers.
- Tax Compliance and Reporting: Ensure accurate VAT compliance, withholding tax recovery, and adherence to regulatory tax reporting requirements (FATCA, CRS, QI), including implementation and monitoring of necessary frameworks.
- Transfer Pricing: Manage and develop transfer pricing policies, including the review of agreements within the Wealth and Asset Management Division.
- Tax Forecasting and Planning: Lead the development of tax forecasting processes to align strategic planning with business objectives.
- Group Collaboration and Liaison: Act as a key contact for Group Tax in Paris, external advisers, and the bank’s General Counsel to ensure seamless tax compliance across jurisdictions.
- Tax Audits: Manage all tax audits, ensuring full compliance and leading negotiations with authorities.
- Project and Change Management: Lead tax-related projects and change initiatives, with a focus on Swiss tax aspects. Leverage AI and other technologies to drive efficiency.
- External Adviser Coordination: Act as the key point of contact for external tax advisers, ensuring collaboration and leveraging their expertise.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop one tax professional, fostering a high-performance team.
- Reporting Structure: Report locally to the Finance Director and functionally to the Group Head of Tax, ensuring alignment with group-level tax strategies.
- Sales Team Collaboration: Provide clear communication and guidance on tax implications to sales teams, ensuring full tax adherence in decision-making.
Education and Qualifications
- Swiss Certified Tax Expert with extensive knowledge of both Swiss and international tax laws.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the private banking sector, with exposure to the complex tax issues faced by private banks.
- Deep understanding of Swiss tax regulations, international tax frameworks (such as QI, FATCA, CRS, and BEPS 2.0), and the ability to manage cross-border tax matters effectively?.
- Up-to-date tax technical expertise, with a focus on corporate taxation, ensuring that the organization’s tax strategy is compliant with current regulations?.
- Proven leadership experience, successfully managing and mentoring teams of tax professionals.
- LLM in Law or equivalent legal degree; experience in a Big 4 firm would be an advantage.

- Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of translating complex tax issues into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a solutions-oriented mindset, able to make decisive and high-impact contributions.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with senior business leaders and external advisers, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.
- Comfortable working in a small, dynamic team, demonstrating initiative and the ability to take ownership of issues.
- Willingness to travel as required, contributing to the development of the group’s tax profile internationally.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, able to manage time pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Fluent in German and English (both written and oral); French is a plus.
- Proactive, team-oriented, and ethical personality, with a "can-do" attitude and high business standards.
- Detail-oriented and reliable, maintaining discretion and accuracy in all tasks.
