Mechanical Product Designer (M/W)

The mechanical team, composed of 4 people and based at Cheseaux sur Lausanne, looking for an Mechanical Product Designer.


The Mechanical Product Designer is in charge of thedetailed design of the mechanical components of our drones. He/she must also ensure their compliance with international standards, their ergonomics, their manufacturability and must accompany their industrialization into production.


 


What we offer


As an Mechanical Product Designer, you will be responsible for


  • Perform mechanical design of senseFly’s future drones, payloads and related accessories, from specifications to mass production.
  • Develop mechanical systems including integrated circuit boards, flex cables, sensors, antenna and the like.
  • Use rapid methods (such as hand drawings / hand calculations) to create rough design concepts from product specifications
  • Build functional prototypes and contribute to the testing and development effort.
  • Interface with hardware engineers to ensure tight integration of electromechanical systems.
  • Contribute to the industrialisation effort by coordinating with Buyers and Supply Chain manager.
  • Contribute to the organisation of the mechanical team / laboratory and workshop.
  • Interface with manufacturer to understand manufacturing constrains, ensure production quality. If required, travel to production places to inspect, test and report on first production batch.

 


Who we are looking for


Someone:


•  With a Masters degree in engineering (mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering) or equivalent is required. A PhD in a relevant domain is a plus.


•  With at least 5 years of industrial experience in consumer products design (mechanical), preferably in the domain of robotics / drones (fixed or rotary wings).


•  With experience in using Product Life Management software.


•  With good knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques, good hands-on skills for prototype building.


•  Experienced in designing complex mechanical systems and their inherent complications: part stiffness / strength, manufacturing tolerances, assembly constrains, thermal management, integration of motors / sensors and moving parts.


•  Expert in the design of plastic injected parts, machined parts and composite material structures.


•  With Excellent hands-on skills for prototype building.


 


It's also good to have :


•  Ability to work in a rapidly-evolving and dynamic environment.


•  Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.


•  Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor / Solidworks.


•  Proficient in – or willing to learn – French.


•  Proficient in English (written / spoken).
