Arktis Radiation Detectors develops and manufactures next generation systems that detect and identify radioactive and nuclear materials to enhance security and operations. Using Arktis proprietary advanced radiation detection technologies we create solutions that deliver step change improvements in capabilities for a wide variety of applications used by customers and governments across the world.

This is a great opportunity to join a young and fast-growing company in Zurich, and work on one of the important security challenges globally.
You will support us in the development and in the testing process of our systems. You will play an important role in a highly skilled and agile development environment and will provide quality solutions in support of Arktis’ detection systems. The ideal candidate is an inventive problem solver that is capable of working through technical challenges and employing pragmatic solutions for both new and existing systems.
The position will be based at Arktis’ offices in Zurich and may involve international travel to support systems in the field.

• Develop software on Linux for data acquisition, analysis and visualization
• Problem analysis, requirements capture and solution design often backed by prototyping
• Take ownership of modules and development tools
• Participate in peer design- and code-reviews
• Write unit- and system-tests
• Education in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics
• Professional experience from a similar role of at least 3 years
• Communicative and with good interpersonal skills

• Profound knowledge of C++-11 and Python
• Algorithms and numerical analysis
• Probability and Statistics
• Linux system programming experience
• Version control in general and Git in particular
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• A strong willingness to learn and share acquired knowledge
• Pragmatic, upbeat and can-do attitude
• Experience with concurrent- and parallel-programing
• Experience in the field of radiation physics
• IP networking knowledge and socket programming
• Appreciative of the principle of KISS
• Web technologies, e.g. JavaScript, WebSockets, HTML 5
