The trainee program allows you to work in three different teams and to build up your network among the whole group. Take on responsibility in new projects every six months, bring innovative solutions, and gain exciting in-depth insights into the world of energy. Your traineeship starts in Baden, focusing on the nuclear fuel. You can choose your second and third assignments by yourself- assignments at the nuclear power plants Beznau and Leibstadt are also possible. 

The perfect start for your future career! ? The traineeship begins on 1st of October 2024 and is limited to 18 months with the option of a permanent position.

What you will do:
  • With your technical expertise you contribute to a safe power production and distribution ?
  • Be part or even bring innovative and fresh ideas and help shape Axpo Nuclear with your creativity and outside of the box thinking
  • Throughout the traineeship, actively contribute to our daily business and take on responsibility in ongoing projects from day one
  • Build up a group-wide network and create synergies between teams, power plants and divisions
  • Start your first assignment in the nuclear fuel department: The team plans to in-source engineering services in reactor physics, which are currently outsourced to third parties.
  • You will play a significant role in this interdisciplinary project, interacting with various stakeholders and deep diving into processes for reactor physics engineering services.
  • Learn and apply best practices from international external companies.
  • Many other exciting projects await you, such as 'Ageing Management', where you familiarize yourself with various aspects of cask ageing and conduct analyses on low-temperature ageing of plastic seals or bolts for transport and storage.
What you bring & who you are:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Physics (no more than 2 years of post-graduation professional experience).
  • Experience with computational codes for reactor physics.
  • Programming skills (in either Python, Matlab, Fortran, Unix) and excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Project.
  • Strong interest and curiosity in the evolving energy industry.
  • First experience in project management.
  • High motivation for quality, responsibility and performance.
  • Strong analytical, critical, and organisational thinking.
  • First professional experience as an intern or working student.
  • Fluency in English or German.

You have the opportunity to work flexible from home and benefit from attractive employee conditions. Your first assignment is at the headquarter in Baden, in the nuclear fuel department of Axpo, alongside senior experts and young talents in a motivating and dynamic environment; further assignments may take place in the power plants at Beznau and/or Leibstadt. An international assignment to a foreign Axpo hub might also be possible.
