The perfect start for your future career as meteorologist! ? The traineeship begins on 1st of October 2024 and is limited to 18 months with the option of a permanent position.


What you will do:

  • Work on different operational and/or strategic tasks in your assignments
  • Take on responsibility for ongoing projects from day one
  • Support the meteorology desk ? in your first assignment with the daily forecasting tasks by compiling and analysing meteorological data for operational reports, with a particular interest in dynamics that are critical to your stakeholders.
  • Develop projects to bring insightful quantifications and visualisations on the weather and climate evolution to drive decision-making in different areas of the company ?.
  • Perform data analysis with reanalysis data and numerical weather model data in order to improve medium to extended range forecasting capabilities of the meteorology desk of Axpo Solutions
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python analyse meteorological data and build operational forecasting tools.
  • Assist in identifying patterns and trends in the data relevant to energy forecasting
  • Your second assignment will take place in our Office in Oslo, Norway ? , and the third one is up to our interests.

What you bring & who you are:
  • Master's degree in a Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or related field (no more than 2 years of post-graduation professional experience).
  • Good understanding of atmospheric dynamics, knowledge of scientific literature about subseasonal to seasonal (S2S) predictability is a plus
  • Strong interest in meteorology and its applications in the energy markets.
  • Strong coding skills in either Python, R or Matlab machine learning methods for weather data analysis
  • Experience in analyzing meteorological datasets, such as reanalysis data, satellite data or numerical weather prediction model data
  • Experience in hydrology / hydrological modelling is a plus
  • First work experience as an intern or student employee
  • great communication skills and high degree of initiative and flexibility
  • fluency in English, German and further languages are a plus
