Essential responsibilities and duties

• The Strategic/Operative Purchaser (hereinafter called “SOP”) is responsible for purchasing activities for Hug Engineering AG in Elsau, Switzerland and for Hug subsidiaries in Netherlands, Italy and Germany in close co-operation with internal teams.
• The SOP will also manage agreed scope of suppliers as strategic purchaser/commodity manager partnering with several Hug functions like R&D, Project mgmt., Operations and Quality.

The main responsibilities are the following – Your Mission:

• To manage Hug purchasing activities for assigned commodities, negotiate with suppliers, manage production slots and act as solid business partner with key stakeholders
• Place and monitor project or warehouse purchase orders through the ERP system
• Assure required quality, on time deliveries and cost performance for project purchases
• Review and approve supplier invoices
• Responsible for supplier management and development of supplier panel (identify, benchmark, develop, maintain)
• Run RFIs and RFQs and prepare cost analysis and benchmarks
• To manage supplier and product data accuracy in ERP system
• Act as supplier key account manager and perform contract negotiations with category suppliers incl. annual agreements, price lists and payment terms
• Monitor supplier performance KPIs (productivity, payment term, lead times, OTD and supplier quality)
• Manage supplier claims together with Quality team

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have/be :

• Technical background and commercial education / Purchasing-specific education (cert. Buyer or comparable)

Experience:

• 3-5 years experience in Purchasing in an industrial environment
• Experience in strategic and operativ purchasing and conducting supplier development and negotiations

Skills and competencies:

• Knowledge of international industrial purchasing activity incl. strategic sourcing
• MS Office skills / industrial ERP experience
• Knowledge of supplier cost structures
• Good command of German and English
• Good written and oral presentation skills
• Good communication skills and result oriented
• Good planning and problem-solving skills
• Open mindset and multi-cultural sensitivity
• Team player approach
