For Zurich's Data and Business Intelligence (hereafter referred to as DBI) department, we are looking for a Head of Strategic Data Platforms & Products.

The role includes the overall responsibility to build and evolve our Zurich Integrated Data Platform (ZIDP), which has the mission to provide everyone at Zurich with comprehensive & trusted data. ZIDP is our Group data platform and strategic solution to develop, share and reuse enterprise data products within the group.

You will be part of the DBI leadership team and extended Group Technology & Operations (GTO) leadership team, reporting directly to the Group Chief Data Officer. 
We are looking for a leader and expert with a passion for innovative data & analytics technologies who will move the needle with a cross-functional team of full-stack developers, data scientists, architects, data product owners and other experts to develop & scale our data platform and the next generation of reusable data products. 

What you will do

You will take a key role in our digital transformation, shaping the way how we design, build and implement enterprise data products. 

Product management

• Evolve and execute a comprehensive product strategy for the Zurich Integrated Data Platform, aligning with the overall business goals and objectives, incl. a multi-year roadmap to co-create and roll out the platform components across the group whilst fostering re-use and integration of existing solutions and local data platforms from across the Group
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring the developed platform and products meet the evolving needs of Zurich Insurance and our customers.
• Collaborate and build strong relationships with business leaders across Business Units around the world and Zurich's Group Functions to understand their requirements and data business strategies and drive the delivery and adoption of the platform
• Collaborate closely with our enterprise data architecture function to drive convergence and standardization across the group
• Stay on top of the data platform technology landscape and strategically engage with & leverage solution providers and strategic partnerships
• Oversee the platform P&L and ensure commercial and financial health of the platform

Team leadership and collaboration

• Lead a diverse, cross-functional, high performing team across multiple locations, transitioning from a traditional project/service delivery into a "platform as a product" mandate, and act as a role model for product leadership within Zurich
• Be a role model for Zurich values, investing in team development and promoting team diversity and well-being
• Lead by motivating and achieving steady improvements and development in your area
• Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders within DBI and with the Group Functions/Business Units to address business priorities and ensure standards are kept

What you bring

• You are a recognized leader and expert in data platform & product development at an international financial services company; experience from working in a Fortune 500 or larger technology/e-commerce company with global footprint very welcome.

• Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Information Technology / Computer Science or related equivalent 

• You have a deep understanding of the Insurance domain with related datasets and data management challenges and opportunities 

• You bring substantial experience in full-stack data platform and data product leadership across the lifecycle, and as a functional team leader

• Data is your passion and you are a proven expert and thought leader in data management, data platform technology, and data governance concepts and challenges and can engage at eye level with other data executives across the group (e.g. Business Unit CDOs)

• Strategic thinking with equally effective execution planning, judgement, and agile mindset with the ability to take a pragmatic and value oriented approach to product development 

• Exceptional communication and written skills in English, including the ability to articulate complex issues and to gain the support from internal and external and executive stakeholders

• Strong analytical, structured and interdisciplinary way of thinking and working

• Great people skills paired with a high level of assertiveness and strong collaboration skills

• You are a leader and an entrepreneur that people willingly follow

• You formally managed a multi-million P&L and a dedicated team of 20+ FTEs

• High level motivational skills and experience in leading virtual, internationally distributed teams

• The role will require very limited, but up to 10% travel to internal customers, trade fairs and similar events, across Europe and worldwide

Nice to have

• A Product Management certification, e.g. in accordance with Open Product Management Workflow™ is an advantage

• Experience with Cloud environments (e.g. AWS/Azure) is preferred
