Director, Finance Europe (100%)
Emergent BioSolutions is looking to recruit a high caliber into the challenging role of Director, Finance Europe and member of the Site Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the VP Finance, you will be responsible for the management of the operational finance team, with 3 direct reports. In addition, the position covers the provision of guidance, the review and support to the finance teams working in multiple European entities, including site visits and training.
Lead a team of 3 accountants to ensure accurate and timely completion of the monthly US Gaap close process (Cost accountant, Accounting Manager Europe, Accountant)
Partner with Cost Accounting, FP&A and business development to establish and maintain cost models for commercial vaccine production as well as contract manufacturing activities. Ensure cost accounting transactions accurately reflect manufacturing process and US GAAP
Quarterly and Annual reporting including variance analysis and commentary. Ensure reporting is timely and accurate.
Management of third-party accountancy firms abroad, ensuring annual returns and VAT returns are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
Provide support to all members of the team with relevant experience and understanding of their roles.
Managing the cash position and cash forecasting.
Participate in Accounting review meetings with Parent companies to explain variances of actuals to budget.
Preparation of statutory accounts for several entities and management of successful and timely audit completion.
Ensure compliance with all SOX requirements relevant for the European entities.
Management of the audit process to ensure successful audits. Operate as point of contact for internal and external auditors, ensuring they are provided with all necessary assistance.
Completion of other statutory filings required (VAT returns, Corporation tax, Annual Return
In order to complete the above job description, the following skills are likely to be required:
Qualified (ACCA/CIMA or US CPA) with relevant management experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, including minimum of 5 years in a management role
Proven track record working in a fast-paced international environment
Multilingual – at least English and German, written and spoken
Analytical and strong communication skills
A highly committed team player, very flexible, and able to work to tight deadlines
Good systems skills, particularly SAP ECC6 and Excel
Experience of preparing and reporting key financial metrics to senior management
Experience of managing the external audit process
Swiss and US accounting experience (preferable), intermediate understanding of US GAAP required
Ability to work at a detailed level and see the bigger picture
Encouraging and motivating leader
Ability to effectively communicate financial information with non-financial individuals
