Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate Affairs (f/d/m), 80-100%

To support our growing business, we are currently looking for a Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate Affairs, for the Alpiq Group. If you are a senior lawyer with an excellent academic background, high affinity for economic and financial issues and solid experience across Swiss company law, corporate finance, M&A, ESG and wider corporate matters, and you're looking for a diversified role in a dynamic company at the heart of the energy transition, then this role may be for you. The position reports directly to Alpiq's General Counsel and is ideally based in Olten, Switzerland (alternatively, the position could be based in Lausanne, Switzerland).

Your main responsibilities

  • Advising on Swiss company law topics, and ensuring best practices within Alpiq
  • Supporting on corporate financing, including review and negotiation of documentation and management of covenants
  • Supporting on and driving legal aspects of ESG
  • Supporting on selected M&A projects
  • Supporting or leading legal operations matters such as legal entity management, law firm engagement, legal process improvement, legal tech, etc.
  • Together with other in-house lawyers, support on employment law matters and certain procurement matters
  • Deputising for the General Counsel on corporate matters as needed

Your profile

  • Master of Law from a Swiss university and Swiss bar exam
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house
  • Proven track record in leading corporate matters, financing, M&A, and ideally familiarity with legal aspects of ESG both in Switzerland and in the EU
  • Interest and expertise in dealing with economic and financial impact of legal issues
  • Previous international exposure
  • Good business acumen and commercial sense
  • Personal gravitas and ability to challenge others, ability to find and propose alternative solutions
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, ability to inspire trust and promote cross-functional collaboration
  • Fluency in English and German and ideally working level knowledge of French
