Mechanical Development Engineer (R&D Project Engineer)

Job overview:

We are looking for a Development Engineer to reinforce our experienced engineering team in Oberglatt. We are pioneers in the development of gear pumps for pumping mostly high-viscosity polymer melts. As a Development Engineer, you will join the team which main goal is to lead and manage all our development projects in Oberglatt. This team is also the most experienced and knowledgeable team which provide support to the other internal departments about material quality, Component compatibility and part testing. As part of the Development Team, you will become one of our experts on site by analyzing complex issues and bringing technical solutions.

The Development and Designing Teams are two separate entities in Oberglatt which means previous experience in design will be considered a strong asset but is not a requirement as you will only collaborate with the Design Team during the development phase. This position doesn't involve any designing activities.

Development projects:

• You will lead and manage research and development projects of new and/or existing products, components, features in order to maintain our market position and continuously improve, optimize, develop MAAG gear pumps.
• You will be involved from initiation to completion, through every step of the process by developing, and implementing innovative solutions, prototypes, and proof-of-concept models based on project requirements.
• You will ensure adherence to project scope, budget, and timeline.
• In each step of the development process, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, production, design, product management, to define project goals, deliverables, and success criteria.

Required profile:

Your background:

• ETH/FH Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 2 years' experience in mechanical engineering ideally with previous experience working in development projects within an industrial manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of pump technology or plastics processing will be considered a plus
• Knowledge of materials technology or production technology will be considered an advantage
• Strong interest in high engineering and ability to analyze complex issues
• Very good knowledge of German and English
• This is not a design position. However, previous experience in design using design tools will be considered a plus but not mandatory
