Swiss Paraplegic Research (SPF) is an affiliate of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation. The mission of SPF is sustainably improving the situation of people with spinal cord injury (SCI) through clinical and interdisciplinary research on a national and international level. Specific areas of its comprehensive research include functioning, movement and mobility, social integration, equality of opportunity, self-determination, quality of life, health services provision as well as morbidity and mortality. SPF is an extra-university research institution recognized and promoted by the Swiss federal government and the cantons and an active link to academic and industrial research and development at the national and international levels.
We are looking for Senior Project Scientists "Functioning Information Reference Lab" 80-100%.
The senior project scientists will establish the reference data laboratory for functioning information that serves as basis for the Swiss SCI Cohort Study (https://swisci.ch/en/) and the International SCI Survey (https://insci.network) and related research programs. The Core tasks are the development of a functioning metric based on the ICF. The metric will be put into a broader context of a universal metric both at the population and clinical level across a wide of range of data sources. The construction of the metric will use the most advanced current methods including item response theory, machine learning and artificial intelligence. Further focus is the continuous development of currently used assessment tools in spinal cord injury and secondly the development of a new ICF-based approach for the assessment of symptoms, body functions, participation and satisfaction at the clinical and population level.
Your responsibility
- Contributing to the design of the protocol of the functioning information reference lab
- Co-design of the research protocol for an ICF based clinical information tool for spinal cord injury
- Development of research projects in collaboration with research group leaders at SPF and the WHO Competence Center for Rehabilitation in Global Health Systems.
- Contribution to the development of scientific proposals and reports for funding bodies
- Presentation of research findings at national and international conferences
- Writing and submission of publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Provision of advice and guidance in quantitative methods
- Supervision of Master and PhD students
Your personality
- University studies and PhD in, i.e., data sciences, statistics, epidemiology or health sciences
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders, research groups at SPF, as well as national and international partners
- Experience in planning and conducting research projects
- Excellent knowledge of clinical and/or epidemiological study methodology and design
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and good German skills
- Self-managed way of working as well as ability to work within and collaborate with different teams
