Communications Trainee (m/f/d) - 12 months

The Challenge

As Communications Trainee you will actively support the DSM Nutrition Communications team based in Kaiseraugst, Switzerland. You will contribute to developing and delivering a broad range of internal and external Communication activities with a strong focus on digital. During your time with us, you will be able to gain first-hand, practical insights into the company’s Communication strategies, tactics and operations, help develop exciting projects with our business groups and contribute to ongoing campaigns in the field of nutrition, health and sustainable living. As a Communications Trainee you will:

  • be involved in Communication activities at strategic, tactical and operational level in a small, highly professional Communications and External Affairs team, working in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
  • be responsible for executing mainly digital internal communication activities, including producing regular Microsoft Live Events, publication of internal news, social media postings and monitoring and analysis of publications, with the opportunity to suggest improvements in the field
  • support various projects, mostly at an operational level, of the DSM Nutrition Communications team
  • contribute to tasks related to media and press relations work (Regions: Rhine Valley, EMEA)
  • support a variety of projects for the Rhine Valley/Switzerland, EMEA and for Global Communications outreach
  • take on a supporting role at representative (digital) events (including organizing meetings, on occasion drafting briefing documents, managing RSVP lists etc.)
  • help create and update presentations and documents

The Ideal candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of Economics, Political science, Media or Communications sciences or a completed apprenticeship in Business Administration with a high affinity for the dynamic field of Communications and External Affairs
  • First practical experience through internships or other part-time jobs are an advantage
  • Very good English and German language skills are required, French is an advantage
  • A "hands-on" mentality, with a proactive attitude, happy to support and take the self-initiative, the willingness to take the lead in some projects but also complete menial tasks where required
  • Very good knowledge of all MS-Office programs
  • Very good knowledge of digital and social media, being a digital native and a quick learner
  • Good communication skills (both orally and written) with a committed and independent way of working
  • Motivated, flexible and team-oriented personality, who brings in new ideas and thinks innovatively
