To support our Global Trade Compliance team, preferably located in Basel, Switzerland (Brazil or Singapore as an alternative) we are currently seeking a: Senior Trade Sanctions Analyst (m/f/d)

In collaboration with the Head Trade Compliance and Global Sanctions Officer, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of the Sanctions Compliance Program ("SCP") for Syngenta Group globally. You will support and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliant movement of Syngenta products by working together with other regional and global Trade Compliance colleagues on delivering the SCP and global trade compliance agenda as well as supporting the trade compliance mind-set and culture.

Job description:

Your responsibilities:

  • In this role you will screen individuals and businesses against global sanctions programs, investigate and validate results, send targets for further investigation when needed and document your results, including screening referrals from all business areas to ensure current or future transactions will not involve a Specially Designated National blocked person or entity, a prohibited transaction or a sanctioned country without transaction documents and internal escalation for review and approval as appropriate.
  • With the Head, Global Trade Compliance and Global Sanctions Officer you will design, implement and manage the global Sanctions Compliance Program.
  • With third party managed provider, you are responsible to implement, monitor and deliver the Office of Foreign Asset Control 50% screening program and results across Syngenta Group.
  • Furthermore, you will develop/implement corrective action plans for the resolution of issues and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • As a senior trade sanctions analyst, you will respond to alleged violations of laws, regulations, Syngenta Code of Conduct, policies, procedures, etc. by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures, disclosures, etc.
  • You will design and produce ongoing analytical reporting, perform data quality analyses and develop documentation for all projects and change efforts (procedure documents, program manuals, proposals, presentations, etc.) as needed.
  • In this role you will develop a deep understanding of our business and future direction to help identify potential risks and control gaps (e.g. develop mitigating strategies to minimize risk).

Required profile:

  • 10 years relevant work experience in international trade operations, trade sanctions, trade law and/or trade compliance.
  • Excellent academic background with at least one degree in business, economics, international trade/business and/or law.
  • PMP certification and OpEx training is a plus but not required.
  • Sound knowledge in denied party screening matters and compliance-relevant business processes.
  • Excellent organization, analytical and strong communication skills including a self-starter mentality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organizational and cultural boundaries in an efficient way. Experience working in a virtual/remote team a plus.
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to the changing environment to achieve excellence in delivery.
