The Lead Engineer, Structural is responsible for working under the supervision of Senior Engineers to develop structural engineering solutions to the design of buildings and other load-bearing structures.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

• May lead a small team of Engineers and Designers, as well as plans, schedules, or coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for a large project project or multiple smaller projects
• Collaborates with other design disciplines and contractors to support the development of design deliverables such as reports, drawings and specifications
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals
• Attends construction and design verification walks and submit report of observations
• Prepares structural engineering calculations and finite element modelling
• Analyses and designs complex structural systems of a building or other structure
• Coordinates structural models and drawings with the other design disciplines
• Mentors other structural members of project teams
• Participates in the development of office standards and procedures
• Participates in Quality Assurance and Quality Control on projects
• Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
• Other duties as assigned

Show your expertise

• 8+ years of experience
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) with Structural emphasis required
• Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE) Degree from ABET/EAC accredited program is preferred
• Exhibit a professional demeanour and be a proactive problem solver
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills along with respect, tact and diplomacy, and ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast paced environment
• Exhibit characteristics of an emerging or developed leader
• Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
• Total proficiency of structural finite element analysis software such as RAM and STAAD
• Working knowledge of Autodesk Building Systems Software design and delivery systems
• Knowledgeable in industry drafting and design standards associated with detailing and construction document development
• Fully knowledgeable with application of codes and standards for building structures
• Understands differences between Design-Build and other project delivery methods
• Ability to work with global teams and/or multi-office project execution is desirable
• Registration/licensure is required as either a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) (preferred)
• LEED® AP or GA a plus
