The Sales Director International Sales & Business Development Human Milk for Medela  is responsible for delivering revenue and gross margin budgets and growth by establishing and developing markets in their assigned region via new or existing Distributors / Business Partners. This involves being an expert in commercial operations and sales processes across his/her region.
You will set the territory strategy, goals and plans to drive revenue and gross margin growth and then manage distribution operations to achieve these goals. You will develop territory budgets and manage expenses within the budgets. You will work with warehouse and transportation staffs to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. In addition you perform contract negotiations and performance evaluations with distributors.
You will follow and enforce company policies and procedures, addressing customer queries and ensure customer satisfaction.

Your responsibilities

  • Prioritise markets and determine market entry strategies for new regions and for new and existing product portfolios
  • Collect and analyse market data to drive growth and develop markets
  • Develop an understanding of current and future market trends that may impact Medela`s sales
  • Develop strategic plan by studying financial opportunities; presenting assumptions; recommending objectives
  • Suggest ideas for business growth, revenue & operating income increases
  • Assign Primary and Secondary Revenue targets and ensures these are achieved with distributors
  • Establish and lead regular meetings, conference calls & townhalls with distributors
  • Train distributors to ensure continual improvement in capability, knowledge, customer service, performance and profitability
  • Ensure distributors are equipped with the necessary sales and marketing skills to represent Medela through coaching individuals in their country / within the field and personally observing the performance of distributors
  • Assist distributors with client training as required
  • Implement new sales and marketing strategies and techniques with the distributors – this includes digital and ecommerce activities
  • Establish, enforce and monitor pricing and discount policies
  • Prepare and execute annual reviews of distributors, Regularly assessing the distributors performance and capabilities against agreed goals and required attributes to drive the Medela business forward and capture maximum market sales
  • Monitor lead pipelines for capital based equipment and/or tenders.
  • Develop an accurate and realistic annual budget plan and monitor performance to budget
  • Build company image through BP to collaborate with customers, government, community organisations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices
  • Ensure compliance with all national safety requirements as well as the quality manual of Medela AG
  • Engage with regional and global HQ in broader organisational strategic planning: provides market and competitive intelligence

Your qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Marketing and/or Business
  • Multilingual
  • Minimum six years' experience in retail environment including category management and trade marketing
  • Minimum three years' experience in hospital or professional selling environment
  • Experience working with distributors, preferably across multiple international countries
  • Significant sales and /or marketing (including digital marketing) experience
  • Prior experience leading and directing retail, professional and ecommerce team efforts a plus
  • Working in a head office environment with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders with and without direct reporting lines, where the team is geographically dispersed
