The Center of Dental Medicine of the University of Zurich (ZZM) is an internationally recognized clinical, educational and research center. In six specialized clinics and one institute, dentists and scientists work at the forefront of knowledge and in interdisciplinary teams to achieve the highest quality in patient care, teaching and research.

The Clinic of Masticatory Disorders and Dental Biomaterials focuses its research, teaching and clinical activities in the following areas: experimental and clinical research in the field of orofacial pain, as well as normal function and dysfunction of the temporomandibular joints; offering an interdisciplinary consultation for the diagnosis and treatment of persistent oral and maxillofacial pain and temporomandibular joint disorders; supervision of master's students and doctoral students. The interdisciplinary team currently comprises 20 people.

Your responsibilities

  • Participation in innovative research projects in the field of orofacial biomechanics and treatment of patients with orofacial pain
  • Recruiting and scheduling experimental subjects
  • Participation in experimental acquisition of motion and imaging data from study participants
  • Data management, process, and reporting using licenced as well as self-developed software
  • Assist in the technical development of new items or processes for use in research and teaching
  • Maintenance of the data workflow (data preparation, documentation of interventions, standard operating procedure manuals, archive)
  • Maintenance and inventory of laboratory equipment
  • Assistance in the supervision of master theses and dissertations

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Human Movement Science, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of biomechanical principles, motion-capture, biomedical imaging, and related processing software
  • Very good IT skills and experience with various programs and systems (MS Office, spreadsheets, MATLAB, Phyton)
  • Knowledge in biomedical imaging and experience with imaging software (e.g. Amira, 3D-Slicer)
  • Practical experience in data management and data processing
  • Familiarity with the dental digital workflow is a plus
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and creative interface with experts from different areas (dentistry, medicine, engineering)
  • Commitment, flexibility, ability to work independently
  • Structured and reliable work
