Risk and Compliance Manager (60-100%)

Your Role:

You will be responsible for the risk and compliance management of ecamos. Further, you will support ecamos in the middle office management and will be the first point of contact for the front office and external service providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, assess, measure, monitor, mitigate, and report on market, liquidity, credit, counterparty, and sustainability risks across multiple asset classes and investment structures.
  • Provide an independent view of investment risk profiles to investment teams.
  • Agree appropriate investment risk measures to be monitored and reviewed as appropriate and escalate issues where required.
  • Organize and manage formal risk reviews with investment teams.
  • Contribute to interactions with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. clients, auditors) in the capacity of subject matter expert on investment risk management.
  • Serving as the primary liaison for relationship managers and internal team members on compliance issues, while reviewing client files to evaluate adherence to regulations such as KYC, AML/CFT, sanctions, bribery, corruption, and tax integrity.
  • Establishing and enforcing compliance controls within designated timeframes, which involve thorough documentation and reporting of discoveries to senior management and other internal parties.
  • Monitoring and assessment of transactions, as well as sanction controls.
  • Formulating and upholding internal policies, protocols, and standards.
  • Creation of evaluations and reports.
  • Participating in the development and execution of employee training initiatives focused on compliance.
  • Support of the trading infrastructure (adapting and supervising risk monitoring tools, etc.).
  • Point of contact for outsourced IT service providers and other counterparties.
  • Ongoing process automation (reporting, cash management, client settlements, etc.).
  • Point of contact for outsourced accounting, risk management, and compliance services providers.
  • Website maintenance and support of the front office in various matters.

Requirements:

  • Industry experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, investment risk management, and/or audit roles, preferably within the domain of Swiss Private Banking (asset manager, family officer or bank).
  • Education: University degree in law, business administration, or a related field, preferably attained in Switzerland. Having risk and/or compliance certifications like a FCA or FRM would be advantageous.
  • Specific subject knowledge: Multi-factor market risk modelling, liquidity risk modelling and concepts of counterparty risk.
  • Regulatory knowledge: Thorough familiarity with Swiss and/or European regulatory frameworks, encompassing AML/CFT, FACTA/CRS, investment suitability, cross-border transactions, market abuse, sustainability, and other pertinent compliance concerns.
  • IT knowledge: Familiar with risk management and compliance/portfolio management software. Programming skills would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated capability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently, maintaining precision and attention to detail.
  • A desire to solve problems, taking the initiative to obtain the required information where necessary, innovating where appropriate and following issues through to resolution or hand-over to suitable responsible parties.
  • A process-oriented mindset, able to design, review, manage, and document risk related processes involving internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and be effective in supporting a collaborative effort.
  • Languages: Fluent written and spoken communication in both German and English is indispensable.
