Systems Biology Scientist

We are seeking a Systems Biologist within the Neuroscience and Rare Disease (NRD) Discovery and Translation Area (DTA) at Roche where we are developing medicines for a range of serious neurological diseases, including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, autism, spinal muscular atrophy, Huntington’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease.

Our lab pursues discovery research and development in neurological, neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders using state of the art human genetics, single cell genomics and functional genomics technologies. We work in close collaboration with leading academic groups in USA and Europe, and with experimental research groups in the NRD DTA.

Your responsibilities

  • You will develop new algorithms and apply state of the art methods for to the analyses of single-cell RNAseq and ATAC seq data, and integrative analyses of multi-omics data sets
  • You will implement and optimize successful analyses algorithms, both for the internal pipeline and for use by the broader Roche community
  • You will lead and contribute to the successful progression of both internal and external collaborative projects.
  • You will create user-friendly applications (eg R Shiny apps) for understanding of high dimensional genomics data sets for non-computational experimental researchers in NRD DTA.


Profile

  • A PhD or equivalent experience in computational biology, physics, mathematics or a PhD in molecular biology supplemented with extensive formal training in statistics and multivariate data analysis
  • Good programming skills (knowledge of algorithms, data structures, data storage and access technologies)
  • Hands-on experience with the analysis and interpretation of several types of large scale genomics data, such as RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Bis-seq or HiC-seq
  • Familiarity with publicly available genomics datasets and the respective literature
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
