Postdoc or Scientist in the field of micromechanics of ceramic materials and coatings
You will work on both basic science as well as applied research questions in the context of the innovation project. You will synthesize ceramic materials and coatings, use cutting edge analytical techniques based on X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy to map their composition and microstructure, and measure local micromechanical properties using nanoindentation, scratching, and micropillar compression in close collaboration with other lab members. The goal is to develop novel micromechanical techniques, validate the prototype, and identify process-structure-property relationships in order to optimize performance and functionality of the novel materials. Your profile
You must hold a PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or similar. A high level of motivation in work in close collaboration with industry and in an international multidisciplinary research team is essential. Experience in experimental micromechanics, ceramic materials, and analytical techniques such as X-ray diffraction or scanning electron microscopy (EDX, EBSD) is desirable.
