The Europe Region Head of Medical Affairs is responsible for providing the medical affairs functional leadership to the Region Medical Team for the purpose of achieving corporate objectives. The position will be responsible to leading and developing the build-up of a state-of-the-art regional medical affairs organization. The position has overall accountability for non-registration (medical affairs) clinical programs, scientific communication and development of partnership with investigators and key external experts. The role holder will also evaluate scientific training needed at both the Country and Region Level, and will ensure development and roll-out of customized product and disease training programs. The Europe Region Head of Medical Affairs will collaborate cross-functionally across the organization including with the Regional Head of Marketing, Market Access, HEOR functions, Regional Directors and GMs to ensure alignment with the Global, Europe Region and Country-level business plans. The role holder will also be part of the Global Medical Affairs Leadership Team.
The position will be located in one of the 5 top EU markets.
Directs local efforts in the development of therapeutic area plans, including Post Marketing Medical Plans that meet long and short-term strategic objectives, including assessment of unmet medical needs. Directs development and roll-out of customized product and disease internal training programs
Directs the effective execution of Post Marketing Medical Plans within approved budgets and timelines, including publication and launch support plans, LCM medical support, review and approval of medical education and promotional materials, medical communications, and identification of problems and corrective actions.
Oversees/Input into the development and/or presentation of clinical materials for Advisory Boards, Speaker Training, Payers and HTA decision makers.
Drives advocacy and thought-leader outreach and development; develops professional relationships with clinical opinion leaders and investigators.
Maintains and monitors budget expenditures ensuring compliance with established parameters.
Leads Medical Science Liaison team (or equivalent) ensuring customers are provided with targeted medical and scientific information on the appropriate utilization of Ferring products and with more general information about their therapeutic area and disease state.
Manages, coaches, leads and develops direct reports as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCES:
Medical Doctor required
Knowledge and hands-on medical affairs experience in one or more of Ferring’s therapeutic areas.
5+ years of related experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Country-level medical leadership role experience preferred.
3 -5 years of experience leading and developing people.
In depth knowledge of regulations related to post-marketing clinical trials and ‘Good Clinical Practice’ guidelines.
Strong computer skills/ proficiency in MS Office applications
Very good command of English, proficiency in a second EU/CA language an asset.
Strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills.
