The Head of Department of Obstetrics and Antenatal Care is responsible for both clinical management and professional development in the field of obstetrics and maternal fetal medicine. He/she provides governance, leadership, and active patient care to the clinical service. As the Professor of Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine, he/she is actively involved in teaching of medical students and pursues outstanding, independent and interdisciplinary research. He/she further provides medical leadership to the Women's Hospital in close collaboration with the Professor of Gynaecology (rotating chairpersonship).
Qualified candidates will be board-certified in obstetrics and gynaecology and hold subspecialty qualification in maternal fetal medicine. Habilitation or equivalent academic qualifications are expected. Excellent knowledge and outstanding clinical experience in obstetrics and maternal fetal medicine are required, particularly in the management of high-risk pregnancies.
Candidates will be able to show successful acquisition of competitive research grants as a main applicant. The position is suited for applicants interested in participative leadership on the basis of considerable leadership experience. The university is seeking an approachable, integrative personality with a systemic view for the benefit of the entire Women's Hospital. Excellent language skills in German and very good language skills in English are required.
