Translations Coordinator
Your role
The Translations Coordinator oversees the list of external suppliers, handles translation requests, delegates tasks to linguists, offers administrative and technical support to enhance the Translations Team's efficiency, and optimizes the utilization of Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools for both staff and external translators.Your tasks
- Reviews incoming documents for translation, ensuring clarity and readiness for translation, and consults with clients to confirm project scope and target languages.
- Manages a pool of external translators by assigning tasks, obtaining quotes, setting up new suppliers in the system, and maintaining their contact details and availability schedules.
- Prepares documents for translation by converting them into Word format, calculating word counts, and handling pre-translation tasks.
- Oversees the workflow of translation requests, distributing projects among in-house translators and external contractors proficient in multiple languages, while ensuring adherence to deadlines and availability.
- Engages in discussions with clients to finalize project timelines.
- Coordinates the handling of document versions for large projects that undergo frequent updates.
- Maintains CAT tools and systems to enhance the speed, accuracy, and consistency of translations.
- Offers technical support to translators regarding CAT tools and serves as a liaison between the team and the technical support provided by the CAT tool software provider.
- Supervises purchase orders (POs) and budget management, handling the processing of quotes and invoices.
- Develops standard operating procedures (SOPs) for coordination tasks, external translators, and internal staff, ensuring existing SOPs and guidelines remain current and effective.
Your skills
- Minimum of three years of full-time experience as a translation project manager.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering client service within a fast-paced setting.
- Expertise in computer-assisted translation technologies at the project management level, with a strong proficiency in MemoQ.
- Client-focused mindset with a proactive and creative problem-solving approach.
- Experience in managing high-volume, fast-paced environments necessitating coordination with numerous stakeholders.
- Proven ability to thrive in a multicultural work environment.
