Reliability Engineer Product Development

Sonova develops hearing solutions and services for hearing impaired people and hearing care professionals in the form of hearing instruments, accessories, web services, mobile applications, and PC software.
Product reliability is your passion. Your experience in the field of hardware engineering will build further on our success. Embedded in an international team, you will support product development projects throughout the different development stages by ensuring reliability requirements and targets are met. Using state of the art reliability tools and analysis methods you will hand in hand work with development engineers and product managers to ensure and improve product reliability.


Your tasks

  • Use state of the art reliability tools and methods to identify failure modes, manage reliability risks and determine measures for optimization
  • Perform data-driven reliability analysis of existing and future products based on test and field-return data to optimize reliability targets
  • Planning, evaluation and documentation of reliability tests including statistical analysis of failure data and failure analysis
  • Provide analysis and qualification methods as well as tests and tools to assess product reliability
  • Support development engineers in the application of reliability tools and methods
  • Contribute to the reliability competence area at Sonova R&D

Your profile

  • University degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related technical field 
  • 3+ years of professional work experience in the field of hardware system engineering in a product development environment
  • Show a track record of successfully ended projects and task related to product design and product engineering
  • Experienced in modern design for reliability methods, such as statistical analysis of failure data, reliability test planning (DoE), (D)FMEA, DRBFM, FTA
  • Familiar with the concepts of life-stress models and physics of failure, as well as root-cause failure analysis and corresponding analysis methods
  • Work experience in the medical device industry or strong regulated field is a plus
  • Pro-active, change agility, system thinking
  • Fluent in English, German is a plus
