Senior IT Project Manager

We are looking for a solution-oriented Senior IT Project Manager to join our Group Information Technology Department. This person will be reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, and will be based in either our Paris or Zurich PartnerRe Office.


Your main mission is to successfully manage a range of IT projects from initiation to completion, that delivers capabilties inline with our corporate strategy and IT transformation goals.  In addition you will be responible for leading a small team (1 to 2 employees) of dedicated project managers, and evolving the IT project portfoliomethodology.


In more detail, for project management you will:

  • Take responsibility for the definition, documentation and execution of small to large scale projects, engaging with stakeholders and actively participating in all phases of the project. Identifying, assessing and managing risks and issues which could affect the success of the project. Projects will be varied and include technology innovation and transformation. For example AI, Automation, Cloud, etc.
  • Effectively estimate costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project.
  • Prepare and maintain realistic project schedules and quality plans, and track all activities against them, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Monitor costs, timescales and resources used, and take action where these deviate from agreed tolerances.
  • Provide effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated. Actively engage in discussions and decisions and contribute to the project deliverables.
  • Ensure that projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured.

In addition, in leading the Project Management Office you will:

  • Lead a small team of project managers, 1 to 2 employees, fostering a strong, positive and collaborative team spirit. Support staff development through various means, including training, coaching and on-the-job opportunities.
  • Evolve the project management framework that is used through-out the IT department and take a leading role with furthering Agile/DevOps adoption.


About you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual, who enjoys managing a range of projects in a pragmatic and hands-on manner. The individual must be comfortable collaborating with internal and external partners and feel at ease with technology, trends and transformation topics.


As an ideal candidate you have the following qualifications, skills and mindset:

  • At least 7 years of project management and IT experience.
  • Track record in delivering successful IT projects of various sizes and complexities (including million dollar plus projects) and ideally across multiple IT domains.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills. Able to explain complex solutions to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong technology background, ideally experienced with technology innovation and cloud transformation.
  • Knowledge/experience with both waterfall and agile methodology
  • Able to work under pressure, and on multiple and conflicting priorities (be a fast context switcher) in an interdisciplinary, collaborative and multi-cultural environment.
  • Dedicated problem solver with a positive personality and can-do attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills, knowledge in French and German are a plus.
  • Preferably knowledge/experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
