Overview of Role

Reporting to the Global Head of Trade Support, this person will enable planned changes in global policies and processes for reviewing and managing trading contracts in all trading locations. This person will lead & coordinate trading contract policies, processes and templates among regional contracts managers and legal departments. Additionally, this person will implement and maintain stewardship over a new contract lifecycle management tool.

Main Responsibilities

• Managing global relations of Trade Support with Gunvor’s legal team and making sure that all needed changes in legal language are implemented in trading contracts timely and establishing commercial standard contracts in collaboration with Legal Department.

• Be the first point of contact for any specific commercial wording needs for any Contract Analyst and help with drafting.

• Ensuring smooth co-operation with Regional Heads of Trade Support and Global Process Manager.

• Establish and lead a global trading contracts’ working group. The working group membership will primarily include this role and the regional contracts managers but may be expanded to include Trade Support leaders, Legal Department representatives, and others as needed. 

• Ensuring a consistent way of managing trading contracts over their lifecycle is implemented in all Gunvor’s trading locations.

• Coordination of maintaining of contract templates and clauses in contract lifecycle management tool and trading systems.

• Advising and coaching regional teams for efficient use of available tools and best practice in processes.

• Managing global relations of Trade Support contracts teams with other Gunvor departments (e.g., Front, Operations, Finance) on contracts management & negotiation issues.

• Reviewing complex contracts and help local teams to amend, discuss, and negotiate with respect to non-legal matters and seek advice and support from Legal Department regarding legal clauses.

• Participating in negotiations of standard contracts & agreed amendments with main Counterparties and seek advice and support from Legal as appropriate.

• Reviewing of Counterparties’ general terms and conditions and seek advice and support from Legal as appropriate.

• Maintaining, monitoring, and reporting on contracts key performance indicators.

• Performing other ad-hoc contracts related duties assigned by the Global Head of Trade Support

Profile

The individual should have the following:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of related contracts management work experience within the commodity trading industry and/or shipping industry

• Ability to work under important stress;

• Ability to prioritize tasks among urgent, complex matters;

• Team worker with experience in different cultural backgrounds

• Reliable and Meticulous, with ability to multi-task

• Effective written and oral communications skills

• Proficiency in English language required, speaking additional languages is beneficial.
