Focuslight develops and manufactures cutting-edge micro-optical components in Hauterive (Neuchâtel, Switzerland) and supplies clients worldwide.

Microtechnology Engineer
Job Responsibilities
Product development
- Technical development project planning – proposes a product development plan, technical objectives and milestones.
- Development project execution and /or supervision – independently executes or supports advanced product developments with:
a) technical support to internal departments (Production, Quality, Customer support, Sales)
b) product definition according to the company existing capabilities or product platforms
c) detailed manufacturing feasibility assessment and product design in close collaboration with the
production/ manufacturing engineering team
d) management, documentation and reporting of product development progress
e) point of contact during pilot production and during industrialization for hand-over to production and
quality team.
Product pre-sales / after-sales technical support
- Analysis of customer needs through PLM/PM and sales.
- Technical feasibility assessments, providing customers with solutions and delivery plans according to the company existing capabilities or product platforms
- Directly participates in technical communication with customers when necessary
- Solves technical problems encountered by customers when using developed products to improve customer satisfaction before volume production
Product improvement and qualification
- Technical support of continuous improvement activities, product optimization and re-qualification activities
- Provides improvement strategy for specific process blocks upon request from PLM/PM
Key competences
- Microtechnology processes
- Mask design (Expert, KLayout, Clewin, L-edit)
- CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor)
- Scripting (Matlab, Expert/Lisa)
- Coordination of multi-dimensional requests especially for mask design
- Management skills: project management, problem solving, organization and coordination, team management, logical analysis, resource co-ordination
Job qualifications
- Master in Microtechnology or similar
- Work experience: 5 years in product management or development, working experience in laser, semiconductor and other manufacturing industries is preferred
- Professional qualifications: background in microtechnology, electronics, optics, materials, physics and other scientific disciplines
- English proficiency: English can be used as working language
- Computer operation: proficient in the use of office software
