Head of Business Development Initiatives, Life & Health

The main focus of this role will be to lead and coordinate the improvement of business development practices within L&H and support the development of our value proposition, including new reinsurance and retail products within and across regional units (RUs). You will develop, communicate and promote best practice & knowledge sharing.

The position is based in Zurich, Dublin or Paris, and as a member of the Business Development Initiatives team you will report to Alan Ryder, Head of Capabilities Development, Life & Health.

In more detail your responsibilities will be to:

Business Development Process Leadership 

- Champion client focus, promote and collaborate with RUs to design, optimize, and localize a high-quality customer experience consistent with strategy and business plans. Lead efforts to improve client segmentation processes to improve the effectiveness of execution against strategy. Lead L&H efforts to optimize use of Salesforce.

- Lead and coordinate client survey processes within L&H. Drive effective use of market-wide and client-specific surveys to derive strategic and tactical insights. Provide strategic market insights and work with regional and market leadership to improve use and impact of survey information.

- Drive efforts to enhance our global value proposition. Lead efforts to identify, harness and commercialize emerging technologies with application in the life & health (re)insurance value chain.

- Formulate and execute on a plan for the effective management of global and multi-regional L&H accounts and accounts with material P&C overlap. Coordinate effective interactions with global broker firms, as required.

- Work to lever global knowledge into local value added and to lever local success into global knowledge. Coordinate the efforts of RU teams as required.

Reinsurance Proposition and Product Development

- Support and coordinate the development of reinsurance propositions and retail products within and across RUs.

- Lead / coordinate global reinsurance proposition development projects.

- Coordinate any use of third parties used in reinsurance proposition or product development to ensure the global optimization of these resources.

- Monitor and report on regional efforts in reinsurance proposition and product development.

In addition to direct reporting lines the HBDI will establish and maintain strong relationships various business leaders.

About you 

- Extensive experience in business development and / or reinsurance proposition development and / or retail product development

- Good (re)insurance technical understanding

- Strong commercial skills

- Outstanding communication skills and influencing abilities. Ability to build consensus

- Ability to deal with abstraction. Open and collaborative style - must be comfortable working in an environment where ideas are shared and challenged

- Good Project management skills

- A result focus and bias towards action. Ability to align resources and get things done
