Deputy Head of School

Academia International School is a bilingual (German/English) or English-language long-term grammar school (grades 7-12) that prepares students for the International Matura (International A Levels). This qualification gives students access to universities all over the world. In Years 7 and 8, we teach according to the Cambridge Curriculum and Curriculum 21. From Year 8 onwards, we follow the Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel Curriculum and lead students to the internationally recognized IGCSE and International A Levels qualifications. Our schools are characterized by a personal atmosphere, a strength-based learning environment and an open, multicultural environment. Academia International School started in Basel in 2009 and has grown steadily since then: in 2019 and 2023 we opened two more locations in Zurich and Winterthur respectively.

Tasks

The Deputy Head supports the Head of School in joint leadership and takes a major role in:

• Strategic planning, managing, leading and developing the school
• Be a positive influence on the climate and culture of the school and be a positive example at all times
• Ensure the vision for the school is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon effectively by all
• Formulating the aims and objectives of the school
• Establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives
• Managing staff and resources

Requirements

• Previous experience in an administrative role within education
• Experience in pedagogical leadership roles
• BA/MA in education or similar
• A very good understanding of the UK international system (IGCSE/A levels)
• Very high level of administrative efficiency and the ability to communicate clearly in various contexts
• Commitment to teamwork, flexibility, empathy and confidentially
