CSI is an interconfessional Christian human rights organisation, campaigning for religious liberty and human dignity, and assisting victims of religious persecution, victimized children, and victims of catastrophe. We give a voice to disadvantaged and persecuted Christians and other victims of oppression and provide humanitarian aid together with local partner organisations. We focus on areas where Christians suffer political oppression and life-threatening attacks.

A new position has opened and we are looking for:

Deputy Director, Public Policy and Communications (Senior Staff) - 100%

In this key position, you will report to the Director, Public Advocacy. You will contribute substantially to achieving CSI’s goal of becoming the preeminent action-oriented ‘think tank’ focusing on crisis situations, existential threats and/or massive and systematic violence which face vulnerable Christian communities. You will lead in the devising and implementing of strategies for amplifying and disseminating CSI’s human rights and values messages. You will create well-researched human rights and values content for CSI and other strategically important channels of communication. You have the ability to connect CSI with potential institutional donors. You will contribute to the International Leadership Team.

Main Duties:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the international communications strategy, with priority given to achieving goals in the English-speaking world.
  • Conduct research into, write and speak on issues relevant to CSI.
  • Lead international ‘content marketing’ and participate in editing and producing content for CSI’s International website and social media channels.
  • Assist in production of CSI podcasts and other products.
  • Plan and lead public communications initiatives.
  • Represent CSI to the public through interviews, public speaking, and other fora.
  • Liaise with CSI affiliates to empower their in-country communications activities.

Your Profile:

  • A strong identification with the Christian faith and the interconfessional Christian values of CSI
  • Native-level fluency in spoken and written English. Command of one or more languages related to CSI in-country work a strong plus.
  • Content marketing and/or other communications experience.
  • Academic background in international history, international affairs.
  • Strong research and writing skills – able to synthesize information and write for diverse audiences.
  • Strong intercultural skills.
  • Strong public communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Wordpress and social media; skills in graphic design, web design, video editing, or podcast production a plus.
  • Creative and proactive approach to CSI’s mission.
