Computer Science Teacher up to IB
For September 2024, we have a full-time post available for a specialist Teacher of Computer Science and able to contribute to IT teaching and learning across the school (in English). The ability to teach Mathematics would be an advantage.
Computer Science has been offered as an IB subject at Le Rosey since 2017, and there is increased student interest in technology and technology activities as well as demand for Computer Science at the IB. An added incentive for potential candidates is an ambitious project for a state-of-the-art science and entrepreneurship centre.
We are seeking a candidate with:
· Confidence and ability to teach Java and Python programming languages to various ability and experience levels, in multiple IDEs.
· the ability and experience to teach IB Higher and/or Standard level Computer Science.
· the experience and interest necessary to continue developing a Computer Science programme on our pre-IB programme
in UK years 10 and 11 (US Grades 9 and 10)
· the energy, enthusiasm and creativity to inspire an international student body to develop IT skills both as part of an academic curriculum
and as an adjunct to it
· an interest in international education and the outlook required to teach children from over 70 nationalities.
A small proportion of the successful candidate’s timetable may depend on his/her skills, qualifications, experience and interests.
This could, for example, mean academic teaching in Maths.
Candidates should note that the post is residential.
On-campus and rent-free accommodation is provided and conditions of work are attractive. The successful applicant will be expected to play an active role in boarding life, and a willingness to contribute to the co-curricular programme and support the pastoral life of our school is essential.
