For our team in Effretikon or in St. Gallen we are looking an Application Engineer (m/f/d). This role is a highly technical seller who supports the sales team and is measured on the sales achievements of others. They use their deep technical knowledge to work with specifications and designs, translating them into Eaton offerings that match the customer's needs. They work closely with the sales team to provide technical expertise and insights and assist in closing deals. Their success is measured by their ability to provide value to the customer and contribute to the overall sales success of the team. MOEM Sales Application Engineer focuses on acquisition of new customers/new sales with a focus on automation and drive technology as well as for the entire Eaton sales portfolio.
What you’ll do:
- Technical evaluation, implementation and support of customer projects (during pre-sales as well as ramp-up phase) in the Machinery OEM area
- Creation and maintenance of standard application software in the form of application examples, application notes, toolboxes, etc.
- Focus on value-based solutions and ecosystem for low-to-mid complexity application by pushing the full Eaton product basket.
- Ensure timely and quality automation support
- Application, consulting and problem solving. Support for customers, partners and sales representatives (also on site)
- Execute customer training courses, workshops and internal seminars on products and applications
- Evaluation of selected Industry 4.0 technologies in relation to Eaton products, in particular next generation automation and drives
- Development of automation solutions with recurring potential including everything part of the control cabinet and around the motor; from the phase of the machine concept (Proof-of-Concept) to the industrial prototyping
- Drive customer innovation and develop scalable solutions; with both customized and standard products
- Visiting existing and new potential customers, supporting the Sale Engineers in the best solution for the application, defining and executing (e.g. prepare the CODESYS program) a Proof-of-Concept together with the customer’s technical team are some of the tasks.
Qualifications:
- Electrical engineer, state-certified electrical engineer or comparable training, ie. Mechatronics, machine building etc.
- Successful, relevant, > 5 years of professional and sales experience in machine control, machine interface and mechatronics.
- Experience in designing and executing technical and commercial presentations and training courses
- Work experience in the industrial automation field (no less than 5 years of experience)
- Experience in collaboration with distributed (virtual) teams
Skills:
- Specialist in depth knowledge of automation, drive and safety technology in different applications, Confident use of MS Office applications
- Strong knowledge in programming languages (e.g. CODESYS)
- Strong communication skills, service-oriented, in dealing with customers, Good knowledge of German and English, both spoken and written. French is an additional asset.
- Customer-oriented thinking, ability to work in a team and flexibility
- Willingness to travel >75% (business trips lasting several days)
