For our client, an international pharma company based in Basel, we are looking for a highly motivated Lab Manager Assistant to join the Neuroscience and Rare Diseases Research Department.

You will be working in a highly cross-functional drug discovery industry environment where you will collaborate with and sometimes take on deputy activities of the NRD Lab Manager. Together and embedded in the overall Lab Manager Community you will be key in maintaining the infrastructure, lab operations, logistics and specific administrative tasks in order to address the recurring day-to-day needs of the lab-based colleagues.

The perfect candidate has a finished apprenticeship in a commercial field, has at least 3 years of working experience in a lab, is skilled in MS-Office, G-Suite, and speaks and writes English and German fluently.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Device Management: together with researchers, the Lab Manager assistant supports in the proper acquisition, maintenance, repair and disposal of equipment. This also comprises updating the Scientific Equipment Database and local inventory.
  • Interfacing with central site and global services such as Building Management (BM), End-to-End (E2E) Lab Services, Procurement, Basel Site SHE, Site Logistics, Site Services, etc..
  • Assisting in the ordering of material in collaboration with procurement, Central Lab Supply (CLS) and external suppliers.
  • Shipment management: supporting material transfers with collaborating national and international research sites, external institutes, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Interfacing with Biology Lab members and Lab Heads, Lab Managers and Center teams.



Must Haves:

  • Completed vocational training as a chemical or biological laboratory technician
  • Minimum 3 years work experience, preferably lab experience/knowledge
  • IT skills: Microsoft Office, Gsuite
  • Very good Knowledge in German and English
  • Flexibility, multi-tasking skills, proactive behavior
  • Good Communication skills, openness towards learning, proactive and Good team spirit



Nice to Have:

  • Hands-on expertise in SAP and My Buy or other ordering and shipping software or IT interfaces
  • Experience in moving labs or institutes to a different building or new infrastructure
