The Media Relations Manager is a key member of the media relations team to support the Group strategy and the achievement of the company's business objectives to ensure a global, positive, coherent, and credible image both in terms of content and form to promote role as the most advanced group in its sector. The Media Relations Manager will act, when required, as a spokesperson towards some media and also work with countries to ensure effective communication with the media from the Group's businesses around the world. This could include development of press releases, support with media in crisis scenarios, financial communications, media monitoring, media training, deployment of media policies, amongst others.
With the Senior Manager Media Relations, design the Group's media strategy and ensure its implementation, including alignment across the global communications network.
Promote the positive image of the group and its top executives across a range of French media platforms with appropriately developed messaging strategy, to international and national stakeholders.
As required, deputise for the Senior Manager Media Relations
Develop communications material for CEO trips, particularly media engagement, as well as organized trips for journalists. Participation as applicable.
Support media engagement at country level, including materials which may be used by country operations: press release, press kit, synthetic sheets, presentations. Provide training on media relations when required.
Maintain media monitoring and effective archives, as part of a task shared by the entire team.
Participate in the cross-functional projects within and outside of the communications team, as required.
Operate in a cost efficient manner, maximizing value creation from all the actions undertaken through the development of appropriate KPIs and benchmarking.
Anticipate situations of crisis or sensitive communication, with expertise to support media relations during a crisis
Build appropriate messaging and activities towards the media to respond to the new challenges that will be presented to the group, particularly related to its thought leadership and policy shaping ambitions.
Degree / Master degree equivalent (Bachelor's Degree in Business, English, Communications, or Journalism a plus).
At least 5 years' experience in Communications
Demonstrable experience of managing media relations in a very international environment.
Experience in industry and in working in matrix organizations
Knowledge & Skills
Negotiation and strategic skills with the ability to work in an evolving environment and balance the needs of various internal and external stakeholders.
A high tolerance for change and pressure
Personal communication skills with the professional stature and presence to represent the group, including strong competencies (writing, presenting, project management etc)
Sound understanding of business financials, experience in the development and production of financial publications
Ability to work with all types of profiles and stakeholders (colleagues of different hierarchical level, business and functional units, other companies, NGOs, governments, think tanks, etc.)
Flexibility in terms of agenda and responsiveness.
Discretion and caution.
English – fluent (spoken and written) and any additional language skills, particularly French and/or German, are a plus.
