As part of our continued growth, we are currently looking for a new colleague to join us in the role of
(Senior) Optical Systems Engineer (m/w) 100%
at our Swiss headquarter in Dietikon (Zurich). In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply your expertise in optical engineering to the development of innovative opto-mechatronic systems, making a significant impact on the future of diagnostics and life sciences.
What you can expect:- Technical responsibility for optical functions in the product development of opto-mechatronic systems with a focus on illumination and imaging systems in microscopy and fluorescence measurement technology.
- Serve as a technical expert in customer meetings and workshops during all stages of a project, supporting project planning.
- Interface directly with customers to help define the technical requirements for products and projects.
- Lead the development of optical systems from initial concept through prototypes to series production, utilizing state-of-the-art development tools and a well-equipped laboratory.
- Prepare technical documentation during the development phase for procurement and production.
- Provide leadership to interdisciplinary and international development teams, collaborating closely with suppliers and external customers.
- Contribute to the definition and realization of platform technologies.
- Engineering / Natural Sciences related degree, preferably with a master’s degree or doctorate and with a specialization in technical optics.
- Several years of experience in the design and industrialization of technical optical systems.
- Extensive knowledge of optical detectors and light sources, especially LEDs, Lasers, and optical detectors.
- Proficiency in Zemax and data analysis tools such as Phython or Matlab.
- Experience with requirements engineering, agile project management, and lean management; a design thinking approach is a plus.
- Previous experience in the development of medical or IVD products to ISO13485 standard or in the field of biochemistry for clinical diagnostics would be beneficial.
- Fluent in English and ideally German.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and interact with customers.
- Strong commitment to quality, responsibility, and a high level of professional integrity.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
