Data Scientist: Predictive modelling (80-100%)
We are seeking for our Zurich office a technically strong and solution-oriented Data Scientist to join our global analytics team within the Life & Health department.
About the role

As a Data Scientist you conduct global Analytics projects to improve our understanding of insurance risks and increase the efficiency of operational processes (e.g. modelling Covid-19 scenarios, disability claimants' return to work or underwriting teams' casework priorities).
Data Scientists cooperate closely with internal clients (e.g. pricing, underwriting or valuation teams) and external stakeholders (direct insurers, service providers). We nurture innovation by monitoring relevant developments, evaluating and implementing novel approaches, and sharing our findings with the PartnerRe community.

In more detail your responsibilities will be:
- Derive and deploy predictive and prescriptive models to estimate targets associated with disability, mortality, and longevity (and their drivers) - Effective data driven storytelling - Application of analytics techniques to existing and new product areas (research and product development) - Development of self and others on analytics tools and techniques - Internal and external presentations and publications
To be an ideal candidate you have the following skills, experience and mindset:
- Demonstrable quantitative skills (e.g. Master or PhD with focus on statistics, machine learning, data analysis) - 3+ years' experience applying statistical modelling and machine learning techniques to practical data - Proficient use of data science tools (you will primarily work in R, tidyverse, and Git; other tools for specific tasks) - Strong communication skills, working proficiency in English - Driven towards finding solutions and being responsive - Able to work independently in a dynamic, international company - Flexible to adapt in a rapidly changing environment - You are either an EU or Swiss citizen, or entitled to work in Switzerland
Additional points for:
- Diverse experience with modelling techniques - Experience in machine learning tools (e.g. H2O, TensorFlow) - Experience in Bayesian modelling (methodology and tools e.g. Stan, brms, Greta) - Familiarity with Linux, SQL and/or Shiny - (re)Insurance experience - Additional (human) languages
