We are looking for a Senior Claims Specialist (m/f/d), for our Alternative Risk Transfer Team based in Zurich.

Your Team 
In Alternative Risk Transfer (ART), we create innovative tailored structured insurance, captive reinsurance and other non-traditional risk management solutions for a wide range of corporate and financial clients globally. We specialize in helping our customers mitigate their most complex risks with bespoke multi-year and multi-line agreements covering a broad range of risks, leveraging our expertise in alternative risk transfer and the global capabilities of the Allianz Group. We operate in Zurich, Liechtenstein, London, New York and Singapore.

The Impact You Will Have 
Reporting to the Senior Claims Team Leader, you will proactively investigate, negotiate and resolve ART claims, involving more complex issues. Utilizing third party service providers to achieve economical results you will provide a high-quality service to all internal and external customers developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients. This is a global role that offers variety and opportunity for innovation.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

• Proactively manage allocated claims portfolio(s) 
• Direct internal and independent external service providers (e.g. Loss Adjusters)
• Investigate high exposure domestic and international claims that involve complex issues and/or litigation
• Negotiate and resolve high exposure, complex claims ensuring cost effective, service orientated solutions
• Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with Allianz Commercial Claims Standards procedures and guidelines
• Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary)
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. third party adjusters)

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• Knowledge of claims handling process from notification to settlement and recovery
• Knowledge of reserving principles and practices; robust understanding of coinsurance and reinsurance and application
• Understanding of relevant legal processes and procedures, litigation management, litigation avoidance techniques (e.g. mediation)
• Ability to negotiate best position for Allianz Commercial, and client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties
• Good understanding of ART insurance markets and competitor landscape 
• Able to work in an international matrix organization and develop strong connections 
• Strong communication skills
• Innovative
• Preferably a degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline
• Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII)
• Fluent German and English language skills
