Embedded/System Engineer
At MYNERVA - a Wyss Zurich project- our mission is to improve the life of patients suffering with diabetic neuropathy.
MYNERVA developed a medical device to artificially restore the sense of touch and decrease pain using AI-driven non-invasive neurostimulation.
Our multinational, interdisciplinary team is looking for an "Embedded/System Engineer" (100%) that will contribute to the technical development and engineering of MYNERVA’s products and play an active role in our small but agile team.
As Embedded Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in defining and managing the design, development, testing and maintenance of embedded systems of MYNERVA’s medical devices according to state-of-the-art technologies, best practices and applicable standards.
Your contribution, in collaboration with the MYNERVA technical team, will provide expertise on best technical solutions that will grant full effectiveness and safety of MYNERVA’s systems and grant cost-effective and excellent products to improve quality of life of patients.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting research on software and hardware to improve MYNERVA’s systems and products.
- Designing and developing embedded systems solutions according to company policy and engineering best practices.
- Conducting risk analysis by providing subject-matter expertise on identifiable technical failures, causes and effects, and contribute to the estimation of risk probability and severity.
- Contribute to the system and sub-system verification activities, by defining and conducting testing, measurements and inspections of system functionalities and performances, and reliabilities.
- Identifying and resolving systemic issues to enhance performance, effectiveness and safety.
- Providing technical support to colleagues and update technical workbooks or trackers to trace technical choices and their impact on the product documentation.
- Collaborating with hardware engineers to optimize system performance, power consumption, and memory.
- Supporting regulatory compliance efforts by documenting design, development, and testing activities according to industry standards and regulations.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electric, software engineering, or related field
- A minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in embedded systems development, across mechatronic and medical projects (e.g., sensors, electromechanics/actuators, electrodes)
- Proven track records of defining and verifying technical requirements for embedded systems and ability to understand and contribute to the whole system/solution requirements
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines with experts in other areas and translate his/her knowledge to other areas of expertise
- Deep knowledge of tools and methods for embedded system development and prototyping (e.g., C/C++ firmware/software programming, embedded and RTOS, schematics and layout design)
- Knowledge of experience with various development tools in the software full stack is highly appreciated (e.g., front-end, back-end, mobile, cloud computing, etc…)
- Experience with software development best practices and knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. ISO 13485)
- Experience in modeling of complex systems, with particular focus on electrical stimulation or monitoring
- Experience with measurements and testing procedures: design, write and execute comprehensive test cases and produce accurate evidence and reports

- Exemplary attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Previous experience with biomaterials and bioelectrodes will be highly evaluated
- Previous experience in design and development of medical devices will be highly evaluated
