Type of contact: Permanent contract
Minimum Master degree in Engineering, Material Science or Food Science
10 years of experience in Drying process, more specifically Spray and Freeze-Drying Technologies, being able to connect the dots between Science, Technologies and Product characteristics in a diverse and multi-disciplinary team
Significant experience in Drying Processing, Food or Chemical industry
Experience in R&D is key and operational experience, a plus

Position Summary

The Nestlé Product Technology Centre Coffee in Orbe is the leading Nestlé Coffee and Beverages Competence Centre that develops products and production processes to all Nestlé markets worldwide. They are the owners of the Science and Technology roadmaps for the Nestlé coffee & beverage category.

Our mission - to delight the consumer wherever, whenever, however by delivering moments of genuine pleasure and indulgence - drives the need for us to attract, select and develop the right people for the right job.

As a Spray & Freeze-Drying Technologies Expert in the Coffee Black Cup Technology Team, you will develop the technologies of the Future for iconic brands (Nescafé Gold & Classic, Starbucks @ Home, Nescafé Azera, Blue Bottle Coffee etc-) to delight our consumers all around the world.
You will collaborate on a day to day with multidisciplinary teams to crack the code of bold technologies as one team, making impossible possible.

A Day in the Life of a Spray & Freeze-Drying Expert
  • Change the Coffee World: Collaborating with colleagues from science and technology teams to develop and deploy new global technology solutions.
  • Partner for results: Connecting and contributing to multi-disciplinary teams throughout the Nestlé coffee teams in view to unlock technical challenges.
  • Think bold and run the show: Actively explore Drying and Texturization technological opportunities to deliver key consumer benefits in full alignment to the Business strategy. You will have full freedom to scout or leverage scientific and/or technological knowledge from Academia, suppliers, other industries, using your network, Nestlé internal capabilities or even external search agencies.
  • Stay connected: Lead Competitive Landscapes in your technical expertise field reviewing who is doing what, deepening understanding of consumer benefits and product executions all while building your own Coffee knowledge.
  • Share your knowledge and be recognized as such: Teach / Coach in your area of competence the R&D Coffee technical community, and the global network of coffee talent in our 26 factories.

What will make you successful
  • Minimum Master degree in Engineering, Material Science or Food Science
  • 10 years of experience in Drying process, more specifically Spray and Freeze-Drying Technologies
  • Significant experience in Drying Processing, Food or Chemical industry
  • Team player
  • Curious, creative, making connections between very different contexts, experiences, industries
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Passion for coffee products and coffee making processes
  • Experience in R&D is key and operational experience, a plus
  • Experience in gas dissolution, crystallization, product performance, material science, sintering and rheology are a plus
