The Role

The Mission of the Business Controller is to provide strategic and tactical Accounting and Finance services to business units in the DACH Region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) and the Holding Company as well as act as an extended arm of ACAB Group Controlling and Accounting.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

In the area of Accounting and Financial Reporting you have to create and maintain internal controls. Ensure the proper accounting treatment for all transactions in accordance with IFRS and HGB. Control the purchasing of assets and use of corporate assets. Review all expenditures.

Manage the financial reporting process including:

  • Ensuring compliance with IFRS/FAM
  • Interpreting transactions for IFRS and HGB reporting
  • Facilitating the Quarterly Management Report, including scorecards
  • Determining expense forecast, including reconciliation to actual expenses
  • Participating in the Group International Accounting Network and providing support to Group Accounting on reporting issues in the region.

In terms of Treasury support is needed to work with Group Financial Solutions to deliver treasury administrative services. Analyze cash flow data and follow up with the subsidiaries when necessary. Calculate annual dividends from the subsidiaries (with tax department).

Support Internal & External Audit. Manage the external audit process and coordinate the audit for the region.

Lead, develop and support the Business Controller Network for the region and the local finance staff at holding.

Drive the digitalization of the holding company where value can be created

Coordinate Risk management programs with the Group and external suppliers

Support, Group Management, General Managers, local Business Controllers as required

Organize all activities in line with the Group Sustainability Goals

Serve on the Business Boards of selected subsidiaries

Participate in acquisition processes from due diligence to transition

Coordinate and negotiate outside consulting services

Support the other holding departments and the region with financial expertise concerning pensions, insurance, acquisitions and other financial matters that may come up from time to time.

Prepare explanations and reports for monthly financial and operations reviews like Holding Boards, Supervisory Boards and others. Manage scorecards as important tools for directing the Holding. 

Initiate and run benchmarking and leading practice projects in order to learn from others and improve processes by sharing this with operational Business Controllers.

Safeguard that the accounting is in accordance with the local statutory accounting practices and that monthly and quarterly group reports are correct, complete and on time.

Contribute to positive Company branding by projecting a knowledgeable, professional, and customer-oriented image to customers.

Availability for travel within DACH region.

What we expect of you?

Education:

  • University degree in Finance or equivalent, an MBA preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a leading function in business control, finance and business administration.
  • Good working knowledge on HGB.
  • Experience managing external and internal audits is a plus.
  • Prefer experience of finance and business control according to the “The Way We Do Things” and accounting and finance regulation in Germany.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems is required, experience with SAP Finance & Accounting module is a plus.

  • Fluent English is a must
