About the role
Our Customer Service Centre in Southampton is the hub of all things watch servicing and repairs for brands under the Swatch Group umbrella. We're on the lookout for someone who enjoys being hands on with keen eye for detail, to join our Cleaning Department.
If you're a bit of a perfectionist and are comfortable using equipment or tools, then this could be the perfect fit for you. Whether you've honed your skills in another industry, your knack for careful handling and meticulous work could make you an ideal candidate for this role.
In our Cleaning Department , it will be your role to maintain the quality and integrity of our service by carefully preparing and cleaning watches to meet the highest standards before they are returned to the customer.

Role and Responsibilities
- Use ultrasonic machines, steam cleaners, and chemicals to clean watch components like cases and bracelets, ensuring they meet brand and quality standards and are ready for further processing or assembly.
- Carefully handle, sort, and label all watch components post-cleaning to avoid loss or damage.
- Safely operate and maintain machinery and equipment in line with health and safety guidelines.
- Organize and manage your workload to meet departmental Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and team targets.
- Work efficiently and accurately towards individual and team goals and communicate any issues or delays to your supervisor.
What we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to maintain high quality standards. If you've got previous experience operating machinery or using other equipment to clean components that's great, but not essential!
You should possess strong manual dexterity and the ability to manage and prioritize tasks to meet targets and SLAs. Please note that this role is based in a workshop environment where there is exposure to cleaning chemicals and machinery noise. You will be required to adhere to health and safety rules, including the use of PPE.
Skills and experience
Essential:
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality cleaning of small components.
- Manual Dexterity: Precision required for handling delicate parts.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills to effectively report issues and workflow delays.
- Quick Learner: The ability to quickly grasp new concepts and procedures, with a focus on understanding and following instructions.
- Task Management: Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and SLAs.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team towards individual and group targets.
- Flexibility: Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in handling diverse tasks and responding to changing priorities.
- Physical Capability: Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods and handle equipment and materials when necessary.
Desirable
- Technical Cleaning Experience: Experience in operating machinery or using other methods to clean components in a technical or manufacturing environment is highly preferred. However, we will consider applications without this experience, provided you can demonstrate an understanding of the role and the ability to carry out tasks effectively.
- Interest in Horology: An interest in horology/watchmaking with long-term ambitions to develop a career.
- Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety practices and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals and machinery.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (or equivalent).
